OYA Activities

OYA is not only a place to stay — it is our home, our neighbourhood and the Tanzania we love.

The places we share are the ones we love ourselves: walking in Arusha National Park, canoeing on Lake Duluti at sunset, having lunch with local families, visiting coffee farms, cycling through the villages around Mount Meru, or swimming near hidden waterfalls. Some days are adventurous — a hike on Mount Kilimanjaro, a trip to Materuni or Chemka. Others are simpler: meeting neighbours, sharing stories, discovering daily life, or taking time to enjoy the landscape.

All of them are an invitation to slow down, meet people and discover Northern Tanzania beyond the usual routes. Everything is close to OYA, and everything is chosen with the same idea in mind: less tourism, more connection, because sometimes the best memories come from simple moments shared with others.

Arusha National Park
Game drive and walking safari

Only 5 minutes from OYA Guest House, Arusha National Park is one of our favourite places nearby. Spend the day exploring its forests, open landscapes and lakes, looking for giraffes, buffalos, warthogs and colourful birds.

The experience combines a game drive with a guided walk, offering a slower way to discover the park, with beautiful views of Mount Meru, Tululusia Waterfall and, on clear days, even Kilimanjaro.

Spend a day on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and discover a small part of Africa’s highest mountain without doing the full climb. This guided walk follows the Marangu Route through beautiful rainforest, where you may spot monkeys, unique plants and enjoy the fresh mountain air. A great option if you would like to experience Kilimanjaro at a slower pace and spend a day in nature while getting a taste of the mountain.
